president - marshall adridge


General description of duties:

  • Presides at all meetings of the Local Union.
  • Makes decisions for any dispute that is not controlled by the laws of the IU.
  • Counter signs any orders and checks drawn by the Financial Secretary/Treasurer.
  • Appoints any necessary committees.
  • Does not vote except during secret ballots.
  • Has the deciding vote in case of any tie.
  • Enforces all laws of the BCTGM.
  • Performs any other duties required by the Constitution and by-laws.
  • Decides any questions on the qualification of nominees. (His decision may be appealed, as provided for in the Constitution.)
  • The President will be a delegate to all conventions and councils in which the Local Union participates.

General description of duties:

  • Performs all the duties under the Constitution and the bylaws.
  • Assists the President in maintaining order.
  • Presides at any meetings in the absence of the President.
  • If the President's office is vacated, the Vice President will become President until the next regular election.
  • Is an alternate delegate to any conventions and councils in which the Local Union participates.

General description of duties:

  • Will perform all the duties imposed by the Constitution and by-laws.
  • Conducts any correspondence in the name of the Local Union.
  • Presents any communications or bills to the Local Union and will deliver any bills to the Treasurer.
  • Prepares and signs all credentials for any delegates to any BCTGM related conventions and will forward the duplicates to the General Secretary/Treasurer.

General description of duties:

  • Performs all the duties as required by the Constitution and the Local Union by-laws.
  • Upon written request by any member, the Treasurer will provide copies of all filed annual reports.
  • Upon any reasonable written request, the Treasurer will allow the examination of any books and records necessary to verify the annual reports that were filed.
  • If the Treasurer believes there is not a need for any copies or examinations, or that the request is unreasonable, the refusal can be appealed.
  • The Treasurer is responsible for all incoming and outgoing funds.
  • The Treasurer is responsible to promptly pay all orders drawn on him by check.

General description of duties:

The Committee persons are one part of a larger Shop Committee which consist of the President, Vice President, Recording Secretary and two committee persons. This Committee will also constitute the Contract Negotiating Committee.

  • Insures that any meeting with the Company, regarding matters of importance, has the attendance of the President, or Vice President, and at least one other member of the Committee.
  • Insures that any members who began the negotiation process for a new collective bargaining agreement, will continue forward as a member of that Committee through to it's conclusion.
  • Is responsible for the training of any individuals who are appointed as Union Representatives, and will assist these Representatives in the performance of their duties.
  • Perform any duties as required in the by-laws, or the desire of the membership which are deemed to be in the best interest of the Local Union

General description of duties:

  • Will perform all duties as required by the Constitution and the Local by-laws.
  • Will see that all property of the Local Union is kept.
  • At the expiration of each three month period, will examine all books and accounts and will make a report to the Local Union with a copy being sent to the Treasurer.
